Subject:Originals on Etsy plus thoughts on Cons
Security:Public
Mood: contemplative

So, now all the original artwork I currently have available is up on Etsy:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Arikla

These range from unmatted to matted to professionally matted and sizes from 5 x 9 to 16 x 20.

I figure the timing works out well that when these auctions are up it will be right before FCN. Since FCN doesn't have an Art Show, I'll bring some of the originals there.

But! If you want them, better get them now as I cannot know what will and won't sell between now and April :)

Speaking of FCN, currently it looks like that may be the only con I can attend this year. Rainfurrest isn't going to work out, IFC falls on an on-call weekend (Sorry Bandrik! Maybe next year?). MFF is on a three day weekend but is deer season.

Sooo... hopefully FCN will be a good one this year, then. Last year I *almost* broke even there once everything was tallied. Made up for it at IFC, though, which was a pleasant suprise! I am already registered for FCN have a room and Dealer's registration has been submitted... so far so good!

I have been thinking about some of the larger cons. FC might be interesting. MFF is "local" but just at the wrong time of the year... AC? AC scares me. That is a LOT of people and I am not sure I am there yet. I have had people say I should but I think I would want to attend as just a regular attendee first just to see exactly how it is set up and what to expect.

I dunno... will play it one year at a time :)

So, I decided to go ahead and list those matted originals I have on hand on Ebay. More will be listed when I get my box back from Rainfurrest! (at the post office, just haven't been able to pick it up yet)

Note: The matted originals are a STEAL! Most of these I have listed for LESS then the professional matting cost me! I cannot price them any lower!

http://www.ebay.com/sch/skieborne/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

Dealer's Den Auctions also still on-going!

http://www.thedealersden.com/other_items.php?owner_id=101282

These pieces are ALL ORIGINALS and range from 2002 to the present.

Trying to clear out some older images, some newer images and pay the Tax Man all at the same time!

In that spirit, I am selling 11 Original pieces spanning from 202 to this year. And I am selling them CHEAP! Like really cheap. Like OMG that price will never happen again type of cheap.

So, if you have ever looked at one of these pieces and wished it was yours, now is the chance!

http://www.thedealersden.com/other_items.php?owner_id=101282

I'll be putting some other pieces up as the week goes on, some at dealer's den, some on e-bay depending on subject matter.

This includes many of the pieces that were at Rainfurrest!

So... go! See the art! Bid!

More fun with knotwork!

Celtic Wolf Duo - Linework

and

Celtic Wolf Duo in Color

Originally started as a mental brain-itch that wouldn't go away. Though briefly about making it into a pendant/necklace where the chain would attach at the noses... but I have no skill in metal work so it just finished out as a drawing instead :). The colored version is done on handmade paper. It is sort of fun to work on, but bleeds like crazy! (hence, the need for the shading around it :P ) May try acrylics on it later.

Also!! I have a new shop!!

Skieborne Printfection Shop

Decided to give this a try :) the new designs are on there too!

After much help from IfreFeathers over on the FA boards...

Keplie Rising

Yay! I drew a horse! (sort of)

Overall OK with the piece, though wish I had thought fast enough to prevent the splatter on the knot work :P Still gives the visual of water, though, I think. There is more splatter/foam visable in the original that just didn't scan well on the paper. Became too washed out, I think.

So it took awhile for me to get this up but it was a bit chaotic :)

Overall, FCN was great (as usual). Last numbers I heard were about 1200 people in attendance and we raised $5000 for the local Greyhound rescue group :) Say what you want about furries, but they are generous!

I did fairly well on sales. Slowly whittling away at the large matted prints. In the future, I will likely make un-matted large prints, but not more matted ones. Too hard to haul around and take up a lot of space. The small matted prints seem to do ok, though, so I'll continue to have a small number of those :) Stickers and magnets seemed to be this big thing this year, probably since they were less expensive. I did finally sell a few pathtags too... one of which apparently wound up as a tip for a waitress at a restaurant :)

Made a number of badges: First set and Second Set

The Butterscotch badge was the most fun since the request was for "Super rainbow flaming gay!" *chuckle*
This is also the first year I have been happy with all of the badges done. So, yeah, next con the prices will go up some. I think I am finally getting better at fast work.

I had a ton of fun hanging out with Dogsoul, Torahkhan, MsRed, and OncacrottaFeathers. Lots of bad jokes, giggling and fun arting :) Wolfy ran about the con with Mitok, Bunneh and Yotee and had fun as well. I always felt kinda bad dragging him to cons and then not doing much with him since I was at the table or working on "homework" so I'm glad he had some people to run about with. Also sitting at the table saw zWerewolf, Shouta, and Lanakila again :)

I did some of my own art too... cons always seem to be a bit inspiring, though this year it was mostly puns...

Hawkward
Leopard-sy

and one that started as a doodle and went wild:
Nathair

Also finished a commission just before the con:
Cockatoo Warrior

After much playing with "Nathair" I decided he needed to be on shirts and things:
Celtic Animals
and same for "Leopard-sy"... but mostly because it is a bad joke...
Leopard-sy

I have one other piece that I drew out and colored, but can't scan until it is mounted.

I still feel sort of "little fish" at cons. I like the stability of having a table to be able to display, sell and talk to people, but always a little guilty since this is a hobby and not something I do for a living. Am I depriving someone else of needed money by taking that table? But, at the same time... I really like what I do and enjoy doing the cons and meeting people this way. I am not exactly a popular artist, and I am fine with that, but sometimes get the feeling people wonder why I am there at all... *shrugs* It's just a little paranoia I have to work on getting over... as my art improves hopefully that will improve as well :)

There were less art dealers in the Den this year, though... more tails, plushes, shirts etc. Sort of surprised me.

Next con will be IndyfurCon (I think? I cannot seem to get a reply as to weather I actually have a table or not...)

Listing a few more originals on e-bay:

http://shop.ebay.com/skieborne/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562

Yes, two are re-listed from the previous set of auctions, but he matting has changed and the price is lower.

Auctions will go for 7 days, and so any that sell will be sent out a week from Monday.

Enjoy!

Ok, while acrylics will likely never make the top media for me to work in... I am rather happier with this one then any prior. Maybe eventually I'll use up all the canvas I have laying about...

the canvas is *almost* too big to scan, though... hence the odd line at the bottom :P

In other news, FCN cashed my registration check, so I *think* my table is reserved there. Registration opened today for Rainfurrest... and I jumped all over that so hopefully I'll get a table there. Just waiting for IndyfurCon registration to open.

So I have been working on these for a bit and finally have eight of them done... now to play with the best way to make prints of them for cons. I think these offer a fairly wide range of species and at least a little variety of theme:

Fox Love
Shiny!
Catch a Tiger by the Tail
Fire and Ice
Hound Chase

And I know I already had these three here, but here they are again anyway :)
This City Wall
Red and Husky
Rabbit Run

I plan to have some of each of these at the cons for the next year, plus they are available through my website and its shiny knew system!

New arts! yay!

Also, realized I only posted the wip of the last one... shame on me!

Pieces - Big Cats

and

Pieces - Foxes

I definitely got more bold with the colors the second time around... maybe a bit TOO bold :P

Ah well, I have one more of this type in mind, but may work on some others first.

Good news! Next year is looking like it will be a mighty fine convention year :)

So far, the following are all on my 3-day weekends, which makes them attendable to me :)

April 8-10th: Furry Connection North in Novi, MI

May 20-22nd: FA: United! in New Jersey

August 12-14th: IndyFurCon in Indianapolis, IN

September 23-25th: Rainfurrence in Seattle, WA (speculating on the date here, the fourth weekend in Sept... date may change)

Of the above, I am really only unsure about wanting to go to FA: United. I would have to fly in, thus fly my stuff as well. Unlike Rainfurrence, I don't know anyone in the area to ship things to, so would have to ship to the hotel.

Anyone have any experience with FA:U that would say yay or nay?

Done! Finally done! And I like it, too :)

there is a song by Carbon Leaf called "The War Was In Color":

and I have always rather liked the song. I have wanted to draw a picture based on it since I heard it and here it is:

The War Was In Color.

Now, back to a commission that was briefly on hiatus :)

Haha! It is done!

I actually forced myself to slow down and work on this one. I tend to get over-eager when I see the color start and take shapes and botch it... so far, so good!

The original song is "Donald McGillavry" and when I first heard it I thought the line was "Come like a White buck, Donald McGillavry". Well, I have since looked the lyrics up and found that is "weighbauk", a set of scales...

But! I was saved! the Fallow Deer is Dama dama.

So, we have Dama McGillavry... the white buck.

the knotwork is in variegated red foil and looks better when not scanned :P

The power went out for awhile yesterday, so I drew by lamp-light. Yes, I know... horrible lighting... but my brain said "I'm Bored! Draw that thing you were thinking about!" So, here it is:

Walk the Path - ACEO

Inspired by The Book of Kells as well as Shapeshifter by Ingrid Howers. (Which just makes me giddy every time I see it for some reason...)

Mine, not as clean as hers. I have some touch-ups to do I notice now that it is slightly larger than the original :P
